In eight chapters, Origin of Daylight: Black Popes, Cardinals, Seeking & Reasoning aims to demonstrate the achievements of Africans and those in the diaspora and their involvement in the Roman Catholic Church. The history of Blacks and the Catholic Church globally exhibits evidence of struggles, success, and a myriad of questions and assumptions. In addition, numerous hurdles were laid before them and their sacrifices to serve the Lord and humanity. Racial injustices are either overlooked, ignored, feared, or floating in the "I don't care" minds. However, in all fairness, workshops and teaching in Catholic academic centers are taught and monitored.

"Chapter V: Reasoning" is dedicated to religious sisters, who were as adamant about serving the Lord as the priests and were also high achievers, advocates, creative and critical thinkers, and fighters for justice during the Jim Crow era with continuance. These sisters understood what it meant to be educated, have a support system, and network spiritually and otherwise. They were often discouraged or blocked by their white superiors from engaging in the civil rights struggle. However, they were able to hurdle segregation policies and stumbling blocks at the white-led order of sisters.

Chapter VIII is a valuable appendix that lists Historically Black Catholic Colleges, Black Catholic Presence in the US & US Virgin Islands, Historic Catholic Monasteries, and Rites and Ceremonies.
