Dr. Sebi Speaks of Dembali: Crossing Over from Dis-Ease to Ease in Matters of Health, Race, Family, and Culture
Before he died in 2016, Dr. Sebi, alkaline herbal medicine specialist and creator of the African Bio Mineral Balance therapy, coined the term dembali. To author Beverly Oliver he said dembali asks the question "Why do we reject recommendations in matters of health, race, family, and culture?" The second part of the question is "How do we cross over from that rejection to acceptance?" Dembali is the lens Dr. Sebi used to observe these communal and environmental challenges and the same lens he viewed solutions. They all come to light in Dr. Sebi Speaks of Dembali, part memoir, part social commentary, part of a trilogy that started with Seven Days in Usha Village: A Conversation with Dr. Sebi (2007). Sojourn to Honduras Sojourn to Healing followed in 2010. In his Honduran home, a setting reminiscent of a fireside chat, he said, "This is why for us to really get over, get over meaning what, from the state of disease to ease, that jump, that crossing over is called dembali."
